The Reference Department of the Holbrook Public Library has a wide variety of materials and services to meet patron’s informational needs and answer their reference questions. We will help you find a book in our collection, place a hold, or order it through the virtual catalog or interlibrary loan. Inquiries may be made in person or by phone at 781-767-3644. Print and electronic resources are available.

The reference collection contains materials in a wide variety of subject areas. The print collection consists of dictionaries, general and specialized encyclopedias which cover a wide range of subjects: business listings and investment services (including ValueLine and Morningstar), Massachusetts laws, consumer information, medical books, literary criticism, and Holbrook’s town history.

Online databases are accessible with an Internet connection and are available through SEMLS and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. They include resources for magazine and newspaper articles, biographies, literary criticism, and general reference sources. Many electronic resources are searchable from home. All you need is your library card; your library barcode is your patron ID number.

Computer resources available in reference include 12 computers with Internet access, printing capabilities and free wi-fi. For your convenience there are also tables with built-in outlets for charging your electronic devices.

A copy of the Internet Policy is available at the Circulation Desk and in the policy section of this website.

There is a charge of 10 cents/per page to print black and white copies and 25 cents/per page to print color copies. Patrons are allowed one 60-minute session per day of Internet use.
